Nancy Roncesvalles

A Seasoned Choral Director and Vocal Coach with a Rich Gospel Legacy

Born in the United States to a Navarrese family, she has been a resident of Madrid since the 1980s. She earned her degree in music in the USA, specializing in voice and choral conducting, with postgraduate studies in Hungary, England, the USA, and Spain. With over 25 years of experience as a music teacher and vocal coach in bilingual schools across Madrid, she is the founding director of the Coro Gospel de Madrid, Soul Connection, Gospel Kids Connection, and Madrid Gospel Voices.

She also serves as an adjunct professor at the Escuela Coral de Madrid and directs original Broadway musicals for young performers. For more than 25 years, she has been leading gospel choirs in close collaboration with African American gospel artists. Her extensive experience includes working with and sharing the stage with numerous gospel artists from the U.S., including Richard Smallwood, Walt Whitman, Charisse Nelson-McIntosh, Damien Sneed, Tony Walker, San Franklin-Jackson, Markita Knight, Trineice Robinson-Martin, The Levites, Vanessa Williams, Bishop Iona Locke, and Bob Bailey. Additionally, she has collaborated with many groups of musicians and singers from African American churches in Philadelphia, Chicago, New Jersey, Delaware, Atlanta, and New York City.

Her enduring passion for gospel music and her dedication to fostering talent in this genre have made her a central figure in Madrid’s gospel scene, bridging the cultural and musical ties between Spain and the rich gospel traditions of the United States.

Nancy has been teaching workshops on gospel music for more than 15 years, covering: vocal technique, choral conducting, roots, pronunciation and style of gospel music for choirs and musicians in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao, Zaragoza, León, Galicia, Almería, Cáceres, Huesca, Alcalá de Henares, Castilla-La Mancha and Tenerife.
