Hailing from St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Wilma Ann has crossed crystal blue waters to bring her powerful vocal presence to the world. Her voice is a blend of intimate soul, softened by a jazzy resonance, and graced with the skill to glide effortlessly through intricate gospel-infused riffs. Her music is a vibrant mix of soul and funk, with a hint of hip-hop flair.

Wilma Ann’s musical journey began in grade school, where she studied the flute and started singing in church at the age of eleven. As her passion for vocal music deepened, she shifted her focus and pursued formal vocal training at New York City’s renowned “Fame” High School of the Arts. There, she studied classical music and mastered singing in multiple languages, including Italian, French, German, and Spanish. During her time at Cornell University, an Ivy League institution, she directed the university’s gospel choir and founded a smaller gospel ensemble called Baraka Kwa Wimbo.

In addition to her gospel work, Wilma Ann performed as a soloist and as part of a vocal trio with the university’s jazz ensembles, sharing the stage with legends like Dizzy Gillespie. Her career highlights include recording a Gospel Soul album titled Under the Surface, performing at Carnegie Hall with the New York Choral Society, and touring internationally as a member of the Bobby Lewis Ensemble. Today, Wilma Ann continues to captivate audiences around the globe as both an international soloist and a performer with her jazz band.
